bokashi workshops

As part of the LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival, 9/20/2024–9/29/2024, lungsnyc.org. 

How to use the same microbes used to make bokashi to ferment juiced fruits (e.g., pineapple, apple, pear, ginger) for human consumption. Sample beverages will be served.

Rain or Shine. 

In this bokashi workshop, learn about applications to gardening, as well as, food waste and composting. We will make two of the fundamental components of the bokashi method: bokashi sprinkle (also bokashi bran or wheat bran bokashi) and bokashi spray (also Activated EM or bokashi microbes). on Avenue B and 9th Street 

The LUNGS (Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens) Spring Awakening begins with a parade (12 pm – 1 pm) that starts from one community garden (El Sol Brillante) and goes by other community gardens in the neighborhood. 

From 1 pm until 4 pm, there are several events happening on Avenue B (around 8th and 9th Streets) and in the community gardens in the area. 

A bokashi tabling will be there providing information and someone to explain the bokashi method. 

The bokashi workshop will take place at the Crazy for Composting event during Breakout Sessions 2:15–3:45 pm.
